Today will be a smelting day. Have 8 or 10 more buckets of wheel weights to melt into ingots. Hopefully will finish today but will probably be tomorrow getting everything put away.

Today will be another smelting day. Down to 2 batches left to do, a small batch of clip on weights and a small batch of stick on's. Will be glad to get this out of my shop floor! Looks like we have close to 2 thirty gallon barrels of clips!

Finished smelting yesterday! Got the burner and all of the gear stored away and the floor cleaned up. Yeah!!! I thought that I had every single piece of scrap lead that I owned cast into ingots but I found 2 weights under the burner while cleaning up. Oh well, gotta leave a few for seed! Next week, on to bigger and better things!

I read a few articles in Handloader Magazine and removed the primers in some LC .30-06 brass.

Loaded up the last 153 of my 223 FMJ, primed all of my socom brass. I think later I’ll load up the rest of the 223 that I have prepped with some 64gr soft points that I got in a mixed lot of .224 bullets.

I went to the range today and shot all of my 9mm reloads. They were pretty mild loads consisting of 4.4 - 4.6 grains of W231 under a 115 grain FMJ bullet. These were the most consistent of all my reloads that I have shot over a chronograph (which really isn't all that many). I shot 8 strings and the standard deviation for each was 12, 7, 12, 16, 17, 10, 11, & 14. String #2 was the aforementioned Speer FMJ over 4.5 grains of W231 loaded in RP range brass with CCI 500 primers. COL was ~1.135 in.

I did a little brass scrounging and while I didn't bring in a large haul I did find some .45 Long Colt brass, which I have never found before. That was pretty cool. At some point I will be putting it up for trade, but I don't have any brass shortages at the moment, so I will wait a little while.

Reminds me of when I went to the range one day and looked in front of me on the pistol range. Looks like somebody was trying out a .454 Casull, because I scrounged 59 .454, and 45 .45 Colt cases. Was thinking it must be nice to afford to buy factory ammo and just throw the empties away.

I loaded up the 144 64gr soft points I had for 223. Now I’m going to have to come up with some more brass before I can load the ~1000 62gr soft points I have.

Also loaded up a subsonic test set for blackout using 240gr powder coated bullets and 1680. Six sets from 9.3 to 10.8gr, it doesn’t look like much powder in there

I removed the primers from that .45 LC brass I found at the range and ran them in the tumbler with some .45 ACP brass. I have them drying on top of the dryer (which has a load of towels in it). I also cleaned the guns I took to the range on Friday. While disassembling one, I dropped one of the pins that held the trigger group in the receiver. Of course, it bounced off my shoe and went through a gap in the boards on the deck. I spent about 20 minutes looking around for it under the deck, though I did find it and was able to get on with cleaning that gun.

After taking a break I'm back to processing pistol brass. Working on 45's for a while. I tumble 5# at a time and try to size that many while the tumbler is running. If I beat the tumbler I'll take a break. Trying to do 3 batches a day. Trying to stretch this out to spring but ready to be finished.

It was .44/.45 cleaning day. Got a load of .44 magnum, .45 ACP, and .45 Colt drying just out of the wet rotary tumbler. Tomorrow will be size and final polish them.

I wet tumbled the rest of my .45 ACP brass stash (about 3 pounds) and a few .30-06 cases, too. I also primed 100 9mm cases. I fired my GAMO pellet rifle at a soup can a few times this afternoon. That was about it for the last two days.

Debating opening one of my spam cans of Mosin Nagant ammo and putting them in some empty 50 round rifle plastic boxes I have. It sure is a pain opening one of them cans.

Reminds me of buying my first spam can of 7.62X54R. Actually I bought a case of two spam cans. It was Czechoslovakian silvertip light ball in green lacquered steel cases. Bought the case from my gunsmith for $100 for 880 rounds total. When I look at the price of a spam can nowadays I always remember to cuss out Obozo for causing gun and ammo prices to skyrocket, and his Russian ban for making spam cans scarce. Anyways I sized up all the .44 mag, .45 Colt, and .45 ACP after drying out from the wet rotary, sorted them by headstamp, and bagged them. Found a .41 magnum case had somehow wormed it's way into my .44 magnum cases.

Loaded up some 9mm Nickel cases with Winchester Slivertips and a CcI#500 with power pistol. Nice and shiny!

I have a similar loading of nickel/silvertip for 300aac, 308win, and 458 socom. They’re pretty. I’d like to get a box of silvertip a for 223rem also
