    Crimped primers in 9mm?

As I was collecting brass from the local range the other day I came across quite a few 9mm that have crimped primers. I don't load 9mm, so I'm not sure if this is new or not. Is this something I should be sorting out as I come across it? And do I just toss them or is there still interest in them?

I process all kinds of brass with crimped primers, so there may be interest in it. (Not from me now, I'm good with all the 9mm I already have)

The MIL head stamp is typically "WCC"

I toss em in the scrap pile. I have enough 9mm Lugers pass through my hands that if it doesn't have the word, "Luger" on the case head, it joins the WCC's in the scrap bucket.

De-crimping (swaging the primer pockets) and dealing with 9X19's, etc, just isn't worth the effort to me.

I have a super swage, but I don't load 9mm. I'll probably sort them out From any new stuff I get and just leave the stuff that's mixed in for now... If I get time later I can sort them out.

I don't even bother looking at the head stamp for 9mm and 223/556 oh and 40 S&W.

I would swage them out and try to trade them because I have an overload of 9mm empties already. That way whoever got the brass would not be inconvenienced. Because I use the swager on all kinds of cases, mostly .223/5.56, I have the RCBS set.

I believe they're WCC headstamp, but I'm not sure off the top of my head.

Oh, ok. It's military brass. I found crimped primers on some commercial .223 Remington cases, or was it .300 BLK brass... I can't remember, but it was one of the two. I was surprised to find crimped primers in commercial brass.

I think they do it just to frustrate us reloaders... Just like large and small primer 45acp and 6.5 Grendel...

.223 is kind of strange like that. I got a load in once with many PMC headstamps. About 1/2 of them were crimped, 1/2 weren't.

Unless scrap is worth more where you are I wouldn't scrap them. Trade or sell. Some guys run dillon 1050s and don't worry about the crimped primer. And yes .223 can run funny. Just because it's marked .223 doesn't mean there isn't a crimped primer. PMC and RP are the only two that I've seen that are usually not crimped.

It must be their older stuff. I've never had one and I've loaded alot of them.

Haha....I've seen a bunch of pmc's. It's one brand I hold onto but I've seen some where the stamping is alittle different. Its stamping is smaller in size. I usually don't hold onto those so I can't honestly say if they are crimped or not. Next time I find one I'll check and see.
