found two intersting cartraiges.

well only two found. they are straight wall
2in long just a hair over 5mm.
mouth has a taper. more like a crimp then a taper in the wall.
base at just under .475in, 12mm.
groove at .400in, just a touch over 1mm.
case wall just about the groove is the same as the base.
tapers slightly down to about .450 in, 1.1? mm. about 1/2 in below the case mouth.
mouth with taper is 3.75in, .95 mm.
only id marks are "LC" "15" and what looks like a philips head of a screw.
the groove area looks like it has been through a lath. aka: recut.
in brass with boxer.
yes these have been shot.

best i can tell is a possible 38-55 winchester & ballard made for the early winchester 94 rifle.
to short for a 444 marlin, base to small for a 45-70.

anything???

but look like over grown m1 carbine cartridges.

1.28 neck--just under 4.5 1/1000 in
1.9 base--just under 4.75 1/1000 in

metric done by a dial, inch by a much older manual unit. (see photo).

the revolver case is only 38.86mm / 1.530in long.

The LC head stamp most likely means that it was converted from NATO 7.62X51 (308 Win) brass. The "Phillips screwdriver" thing is a circle with a cross in it, NATO designation. the "15" means that it was 2015 date of manufacture, so a recent conversion.

Most likely somebody's wildcat.

i was believing the 15 was for date.
so the cross in a circle = nato.

not having gotten into conversions (wildcats). but would it not still have the stamping of the org cartridge?
or do the manf "re-stamp" the base?

maybe if i win a lottery i can have a rifle made to fit these cartridges? sure only two now. but if i had million$ -a$ in dollar$- (dreaming--billion$)

as i could not find anything about a wildcat, or odd ball, or obsolete cartridge.

i will just hang onto these two, for? if nothing other than to show people.
