Finally got it out of layaway.138

Shoots great, look good too. My first 1911.

Now to start loading up the 45acp brass I've been collecting.

Forgive the small format pic from my phone... And no, I didn't pay nearly what's on the price tag...

Nice looking 45 ... Price don't matter as long as you enjoy it.

I think I paig $399 for my Taurus .55, and it's a keeper. So a low price isn't any indication of bad quality.

Nice!

I paid about $250 for my LLama Max 1 .45. I know, I know "Llama this, Llama that," but mine eats all the ammo I've fed it so far and works with all the different magazines I own, and most importantly, it's fun!

Enjoy your .45.

So did my roommate's Llama. But it rolled and clanked like a piece of old machinery when you shot it. All my 1911's have been much nicer.

There aren't any rattles in this one. I've only tried a few types of ammo in it yet though.

Yeah, I tested my new CCU conversion to my 10mm 1911 yesterday. I tried lots of bullet weights, 5 different manufacturer's magazines. It has yet to burp on anything. Pretty darned reliable so far. Only thing I haven't shot through it yet has been non powder coated cast loads, but only because I didn't have any.

This has not been my experience. I'm sure the fit is less exact than more expensive guns, but that is the case across the board. However, I have a Legutiano-era gun and I believe those are some of the better quality Llamas.

I've only ever shot/loaded 230 gr. FMJs, LRNs, or TCs in my .45s. The TCs were all Winchester factory-loaded BEB rounds.

The true test is will it fire SWC rounds. That seems to be the finicky round in .45 ACP.

I hope it'll shoot SWC/TCs, I bought 500 185gr TC plated bullets last week. I loaded a few magazines worth to test them before I crank them all out. So far I've just cycled them through, haven't shot any, but they seem to feed fine... I had one get set back into the case a bit, so I lengthened the OAL and added some more crimp.

It's supposed to be warmer (50* or so) Tuesday and Wednesday, so hopefully I can make it to an outdoor range.

Yeah, I braved the cold, cold wind yesterday to fire my new 10mm carbine set up, and to see which one of my six Mausers was the most accurate. (My Carl Gustav 6.5 Swede was)

If you have trouble loading certain profile bullets (non RN) into the chamber, the feed ramp can be honed/polished to make it wider and smoother. Your gun probably wont need this.

I think my issue was not enough crimp. But those 185gr TC bullets I got from rainier don't have a whole lot of bearing surface, I'll probably go with 200 or 230gr next time. I just like the look of TC over the standard hardball, plus the holes they make in paper are a lot cleaner.

Penn Bullets sells a 230gr. TC cast lead bullet. You can find them here (https://www.pennbullets.com/45/45230tcbb.html). Winchester sells a loaded round that has a 230gr. TC bullet (look here (http://winchesterle.com/Products/handgun-ammunition/winclean/brass-enclosed-base/Pages/default.aspx)), but they don't seem to sell just the bullets.

Rainier and extreme both sell a TC style 230gr plated bullet also.

I have never shot (Or really even want to) LSWC .45 ACP rounds. They were designed to shoot round nose/ball, why not just keep going with that? TC's? Eh, if I had them, I would try them.

I like the look of the TCs over the look of hardball. That's not saying I'm against using them, I just like the look better.

I don't really care what they look like, as long as I pull the trigger, they go bang, and the go where I point them!

Have you shot it yet? Enquiring minds want to know.

I've run a hundred or so rounds through the pistol, not the 185TCs yet though. Just some personal defense, jacketed and cast hardball, it performed flawlessly with all types...

I can already tell that it's easily more accurate than I am ;)

I never could cast a fly rod without putting knots in the leader.

And I have no idea what that means... I've never had the patience for fishing.

Nice looking firearm! Sometimes things like that are very much worth the wait!

I'll put it this way, you are not supposed to end up with knots in your leader by just casting. Somehow I manage to do it.

Ahh, gotcha. I would probably spear myself or someone else near me if I tried...
