After months of drooling over it through the glass I finally decided to put a 1911 in layaway.

Springfield armory loaded series 1911. Stainless, government model, fully adjustable sights.

I won't have it out of layaway until mid March or so, but at least now I know it won't be sold out from under me :D

Just wanted to brag a bit, and possibly see if anyone else has any experience with them.

My Springer was a stainless steel 1911A1 GI. It was my only .45 for years until I just had to break down when I got an NIB Taurus for $399. That's it in the lower left. Taurus on the right. The others are 10mm's and a SIG .22.

Careful. They tell me that 1911s can multiply quickly. I have tried to keep my two separated in case. Hope you enjoy your new toy and know that it will take For Ever to be able to bring her home.

If you are just getting the .45, are you sitting on a stash of .45 cases to reload yet?

Awesome! I have a 45 just not a 1911 and not sure I want one as the itch for a revolver it hitting me hard.

I have just north of 500 that friends have "donated" to me at the range.

It's enough to get me started though.

I'm still (relatively) young yet, so I hopefully have plenty of time to build up a collection.

That Springfield is a nice 1911-style .45. A friend of mine got one recently and really likes it.
